Racman: Perhaps. But, legitimately, they would make purchases to control an industry or sector they consider to be "in the national interest." In that sense, I think they got much of what they wanted last year. Still, w/ the CCP.... Who knows?

Last night it was the HKMA's buying in the second-tier of HSI companies that pushed-up the index. The spec's don't have the holdings in the second-tier, and some "low profile" buyers were absorbing some of the selling in the first tier. The individual properties (Cheung Kong, Henderson Land, Sun Hung Kai...) were maintained w/ buying orders from their respective majority holders.
