GrowthValue:
LU was spun off from AT&T. As former T employee who actually survived divestiture, i can virtually guarantee strong relationships still exist. Per # 3264 (definitely a MUST READ), some are still in same buildings!

Djane:
Thank you for posting Cammarata's article. He has done his homework in an outstanding manner, and statements reflect facts & truths as opposed to opinions. Excellent! Ignoring ANY of what he has to say would result in uninformed actions, & probably losses for those trying to "play" this situation without FULLY knowing what the scenario has been and is. Thank you again!

Lucent wanted this deal to be broken up very badly. They need time to catch up to Ciena's technology and they are afraid a CIEN/TLAB will blow them out of the water. Lucent CLAIMS they will have a working 40 channel product shortly but my sources tell me there will be some delay until it is really functionable. My sources tell me Lucent offered a sweetheart deal to AT&T in return for a public announcement that they would not even evaluate Ciena's technology knowing the impact of such an impact on the deal. Ciena's customer base is expanding as evidenced in the last quarter with eleven customers, with only two customers representing more than 10% (sprint and another undisclosed customer). Lucent is in trouble. If TLAB is smart and talks to their sources they should move foward with this deal and forget AT&T. This shouldn't scare TLAB at all.
