Wallace,

Don't dig to deep. You might lose contact with reality.

With regards,

Paul

<<It would never occur to them to consider that their own position might be unjustifiable. >>

We're back to name-calling?

I never said the poll had no value, only that American policy should be based on American needs, and American values should be based on Americans' values. To base our culture or our foreign policy on people in other countries think would be foolish and reckless. Does that mean we should ignore them, of course not. As I said in my post, I think the information is interesting, but we should not base policy on it.

As to closed minds, there are plenty of those on both/all sides to go around. The lopsidedness of the poll from the Hague is a good example of that. Our country is not as homogenous as many European countries, and it is obvious that the poll reflects their homogeneity. If you took a poll in Japan on almost any topic, you would find that same one-sidedness. You very rarely find that sort of agreement here because of our diversity. I don't have a locked mind - quite the contrary. I just don't think that the opinions of a country that has their own values and their own agendas has much relevance here. For that matter, due to the way that polls are taken and manipulated, I don't put much faith in poll results at all.
