Maybe because miyazawa and hibachi intervene in

tokyo currency and equity markets. check the hedge funds

for some clues...

You might do better looking at JPN options instead of NIK options. The JPN index tracks the Nikkei 225 better than the NIK index, so the JPN is more popular with people wanting a hedge against the Japanese equity market. The NIK is based on 300 stocks, and includes some stocks that are not very liquid.
I'm not an expert, so all this is MOO (my opinion only)!
