e-mail: the September 520 puts look good OEWUD 6 7/8 * 7 1/4 (I picked up 5) and September 545 OEWUI look good as well but more expensive at 14 * 14 1/2. The calls have gone from 12 to 10 and the puts have gone from 6 to 7 in the same time frame.

The reason I like index options is that I can still go long my favorite earnings plays at the same time that I go 'short' the general S&P. I'm bullish on CCL after today's upgrade and feel comfortable holding calls on CMVT while at the same time I've got puts on the dow.

You must take this market one day at a time.. There are no 'permanent' bottoms. This will be a choppy market in the next few weeks. For traders (swing traders and daytraders) this is ideal. All you have to do is watch the 'story' stocks, indexes, up/downgrades and earnings plays and you can play both ends of the market at the same time. If I didn't have my own long term portfolio to watch and 'protect', I would not mind this kind of market for the next 6 months.
