I think you're totally right about something stinking from AT&T and Lucent. When do companies start reporting that they will no longer evaluate someone's product right before their shareholder meeting? Lucent had the motive. AT&T was the knife. Lucent and AT&T have had this relationship from the get go. TLAB, itself, has had not success breaking into AT&T. TLAB probably thought that with CIEN's strong product that AT&T could no longer overlook the superior technology. But I guess blood is thicker than water. Another case and point that AT&T is really dumb. One, their l.d. technology is in dire need for an upgrade. Two, they've been absolutely stupid in their strategic acquisitions, i.e. NCR. Third, AT&T is buying John Malone's TCOMA for $40 billion. The list goes on and on. I hope TLAB is smart enough to realize the LONG TERM benefits of this merger and not be swayed by AT&T's lack of interest in CIEN's product. I hope Mike Birck and the Board are looking at the big picture. Otherwise, I might bail out of TLAB.
