Yes, if they bought that first day with the Dow at about 2,500, they paid 500 points too much. However, even so, they would have made a nice return if they held until now.

By the way, I remember that day well. My good friend at work was heavily margined. All day long, he was getting margin calls from his broker. He was quite a mess by the end of the day, having lost much of his investment pool. On the other hand, I was buying like crazy!

I just LOVE to buy the dips; especially big dips like that. The profits from my buys that day made a very nice downpayment on my house.
