Paul, you ask, <<Who rightly cares about the S & P when discussing Kurlak's remarks on Intel?>> The majority of people who are buying and selling Intel today care, because that is the benchmark they must outperform. If you do not care, Paul, that is your right. But a large portion of your compatriots in the market do care, and thus it is important, even to you, if only for perspective. <<You should recognize, GVTucker, that making money is the objective of investment >> Paul, a professional investor that has merely 'made money' over the past few years would be out of a job. Relative performance IS important to a professional investor, because that is why he is hired and fired. <<You may have lost money, GVTucker, by investing in Intel's competitors, and so you think Intel's time has passed.>> Why, if I think Intel is overpriced, would that mean that I think its competitors are underpriced? After all, there are industry factors that contribute to my opinion of Intel's valuation; that would make me more likely to be short Intel's competitors than be long. <<I do implore you, GVTucker, to take a very strong SHORT position on Intel and place your money where Kurlak's mouth is at. ANd please, GVTucker, post your transactions uo here on SI for us all to see so that we can all observer GVTucker's sure-fire-get-rich-quick-in-the-market-success-story.>> I have never recommended anyone follow Kurlak's advice blindly. I have recommended that people respect his skills. And if I EVER come up with a 'sure-fire-get-rich-quick-in-the-market' strategy (no one has found a legal one yet), Paul, you can be darn sure I won't share that information with you or anyone else.
