We go from contempt to hysteria and now back to contempt.

This, as Clinton's Y2k czar, John Koskinen, encourages us to do the math. The supply of technical (programmers and embedded-system engineers) talent is inadequate. He acknowledges that we cannot fully remediate even our misson-critical systems--he admits there is simply not enough supply of man-hours, worldwide, to avoid disruptions. The embedded systems are the real bitch.

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is hosting their initial Y2k task force meeting, headed up by former Senator Sam Nunn. He'll lead a team of senior U.S. and foreign government officials, as well as domestic and international business leaders, representing critical industries (utilities, oil, coal, and natural gas, metals, telecommunications, health, and transportion--let's leave the Dept. of Defense out of that meeting). They will assess the threat to the global infrastructure and plan accordingly.

The servi—e and products that TPI provide are that which is in global short supply.
