tim,

Just a few brief comments to offer my 2 cents:

CA and SAP are really in completely different sectors. In the recent past, even though CA's stock hit an all-time low, the same reasons that led me to decide against this stock still seem to hold true:

1) Greater than 53% of CA's business is in the mainframe area.
We all know that mainframes, even though not a dying bread, are not exactly a high-growth sector.

2) According to a recent interview by CEO Charles Wang, CA's non-mainframe business slowed due to y2k interruptions (in the sense of corporate budget) and South East Asia exposure. That part of the business reportedly had been growing at a 40% rate.

The reasons of favoring SAP are numerous; all of which (or most of which) had been discussed repeatedly on this thread. You may wish to look up some old posts.
