John, here's my Saturday post.....any comments? "Good morning to all. Regarding Fe vs Co for natural gas(NG) GTL, I've had chats with the RNTKers in the past about this and I'm working from memory, not notes. Also, I'm not a GTL engineer so the discussion oftentimes rises above my head. It would be nice to get some comments from John M/JCM/cougar (assuming you're still with us John)(I'm sure you are). Having said that, I think it might be very difficult to put out a press release that properly addresses RNTK's Fe NG GTL competitive posture. It's a good topic for a technical paper however. The difficulty is that many (most?) NG GTL installations will be custom built. Variables driving the engineering details include (not in any particular order); Feedstock quantities Feedstock chemical makeup (Fe shines with the lesser-quality feedstocks that can kill Co catalysts) Feedstock quantity and quality temporal variations (maybe multiple sources and maybe part of the time the locale wants to burn to generate power and other times they have a surplus that can be GTLed) Location/type (isolated/dedicated/stand-alone to integrated in a major NG installation with all its support systems/resources/personnel.....and everything in between, a big variable) Contractual ties of the location Products desired (a big variable) Back to the question........Fe competitiveness. It's my understanding that within the matrix of all the NG GTL operations that will spring up downstream accommodating the variables I just outlined, there are situations where Fe will be better, places where Co will be better and places where it will be a push. Without meaning to be corny, it may be like asking which PC or SUV or camera is best. It really depends on what you're going to do with it. And Fe will have niches where it'll be the best. And so far, RNTK is the only company in the world willing to license their patented/proprietary Fe technology. Sasol is a big player, but they want to be a major partner in each setup.....they have the capital to do that. RNTK is little....but with good stuff to license. They're doing the right thing and the only thing they can do IMHO. Currently, that is. Hope this helped. H.W."
