Cav, yes, the FDA did ban Stevia as an "unsafe food additive". I posted the entire FDA report earlier. Here it is: #reply-5574940

If the Nature's Taste tree is a genetically engineered Stevia tree, then I suppose they'd have to show how the changes ameliorated the product. Even if the original tree was not a Stevia, I would assume the FDA would want to check any substance categorized as "new".

Which brings up an interesting point: is there an FDA approved list of substances that may be sold as "pure" under the category of "dietary supplement", or can you market any product you want as long is it not on the banned list? In other words, is the burden of proof on the FDA to prove something unsafe or on the manufacturer to prove it is safe? I would assume the former or else AZNT would be selling an unapproved substance.

Well, it looks like they did ban it #reply-5574940 - gracias, Jeff.

If you have evidence of the 'fact this is not stevia', could you post it, please?
I guess to establish that 'fact', we'd have to find out just what it is.
And the Linnaean designation of the species and variety would really help there.
