As for me, I just want some financial advice from a better than average prognosticator.

jim

I had to look up an old webpage I haven't updated in awhile to find the quote your statement reminds me of...

I wrote it over a year ago and call it, all modesty aside, "Kirk's Wisdom". It goes:

-> If it is too good to be true, it is.

->Free advice from someone selling anything other than advice is worth just what you paid.

From - pw2.netcom.com

There are many reasons for the 2nd statment besides the obvious.

Also, consider that most listeners get baseball or football quite often so they are used to not getting Bob for all sorts of reasons. He has also said on the air to not count on him for several weeks even after he issues a sell as the sell most likely will come on a Monday and he could be off the following weekend.

I'm surprised he doesn't take more vacations, but I bet the newsletter subscriptions would fall off.... Also, I am sure he rather enjoys the fame and likes to help people in a way that works for him.

regards
Kirk out

Well, at least I livened things up around here. I'm a bit surprised at the lack of flames (only two real flamers), but I attribute that to the polite nature of most Brinker fans.

Despite the discussion to the contrary, I maintain my position on my two main points -- 1) Brinker's "true believers" treat him and his advice more like a religion than a market advisor, and, 2) IMO Brinker has an obligation to his audience, that he (and many of you, obviously) will not acknowledge. Namely that if he is not going to do his show during times of market turmoil, he should, at a minimum, relay a message (via audio tape, or even just a verbal note to the guest host) that his model has / has not changed its indication and that his advice is unchanged / pending change.

While I really like the idea of being able to drop the kids off at his house when I need a break, that may be just a little beyond what I should really expect from him. Besides, knowing Brinker, he'd probably go play golf just when the kids found the ice cream.

To those of you who hang on his every word and try to interpret the subtile nuances of his words, I certainly respect your ability to listen and gain insight. I hope you can continue to do as well in the future as His Guidance has permitted in the past.

As for me, I'll continue to listen to his program for advice that I think may be useful, and try to apply it it in conjunction with other advisors' comments that I respect. And, if his advice is missing at some critical juncture, I will continue to be irritated at his absence. Who knows? Maybe I'll even be irritated enough to crank up this little tempest in a teapot again.

Best of luck to all,

jim
