Anil:
Encyclopaedia Britannica CD-ROMs banned..... The silliness continues... Govt. of India do not want its citizens to know that outsiders think there is a dispute between India and Pakistan about Kashmir

Sounds ridiculous to me. The Govt. of India has underestimated the intelligence of an average Indian, who knows that it is a disputed territory. If the Govt. wants to express its opinion, they can put newspaper adds and radio broadcasts to counter the opinion expressed in the EB.

Anil - I think banning CDROMS or Books that show Kashmir is a disputed area is a valid use of authority to let the outsiders know that we disagree with their interpretation. And unless they correct it India will ban such material.

Can you imagine if India did not dispute such claims. Then she would be acknowledging that Kashmir is, in fact, a adisputed area.

Anil speaking of monetary policies etc

Here is bit of news about the possibility of a reduction in PLR by
SBI for infrastructure projects.

On the same subject recently to stem the fall of the rupee against dollar the RBI has increased the the credit liquidity ratio requirement for the banks a bit for its member banks to squeeze the money supply a bit, this however might be a temporary measure.

Please, nobody tell Sushma Swaraj there are maps on the internet, or VSNL would be putting in map filters soon.

And also, please nobody tell them that "EB" should henceforth stand for "Encyclopedia Bharatiye" and not "Encyclopedia Brittanica"! Lest they start yet another of their stupid bureaucratic outfits and employ some cockamamie idiot "scientists" who will keep on promising for the next 20 years to deliver soon "the real EB", and like the chimerical "Raam Rajya", it will remain a mirage forever! :-)

Dipy.

Now it all makes perfect sense. But would it change the reality?
