Ibexx.... I recently ran across a couple of interesting points about the market's recent gyrations. Lazlo Biriny points out in Forbes that the dramatic turnaround after the recent 300 point drop was the simple result of one huge buy order by an index fund late on August 5, which alone took the market up 150 points in 15 minutes. Another point about the poor markets of the last month was made in todays WSJ. It points out that the cut in time frame for long term capital gains from 18 to 12 months was retroactive and took place last month. The result of this probably would be some compression of selling in a shorter time frame... regards
