The Great Rural Bazaar.

JPR:

Here is interesting piece of business news.

Excerpts:

....The only thing you can say with certainty about the Indian rural market right now is that it is the best trading ground for both Indian and multinational corporations. A burgeoning, untapped market estimated at nearly 150 million stretching across the length and breadth of the Indian subcontinent.

The vision has long fascinated Indian organisations as well as MNCs. And now, the dream is blazing brighter than ever as the Indian rural bazaar is displaying a market trend towards consumerism, outpacing the urban market in its ever-increasing demand for durable products like wrist-watches, fans, televisions, video cassette recorders as also non-durables like nailpolish, lipstick, ice-cream, shampoo and mosquito repellants.

"It's astounding... the rural market is now speaking the voice of the city. Our sales have recorded a near hundred per cent jump in the countryside during the last year," remarked Maruti Udyog Limited's marketing director Jagdish Khattar.

Hi JPR: Here is a response I got from one of the political parties to whom I have send a copy of that article 'The Ugly Indian' from India Today. Of course none the major parties didn't reply at all which I am not surprised. I don't know who these guys are must be new party or something, never heard of them before, but they do have a website. The reference to some Maharishi and Vedic technology makes me wonder about these dudes. What Vedic Technology and what maharishi? must be another one of them political parties or a cult under the some political pretext.

Dear Mohan,

Thank you for the article reference. It was quite cynical, although well written.

Ajeya Bharat Party offers a truly different approach to the problems of India: raise the level of Enlightenment of the people and gain support of Nature's Government to solve all problems of the nation.

If this approach is difficult to understand, please set aside your frsutration for a moment and think quietly about how one can change the situation in India. Corrupt politicians are only the manifestation of deeper problems and attitudes. What must change first is the consciousness of the people, then expectations will change, individual actions will change, and all necessary political change will naturally follow.

The key is to have the technology to change the collective consciousness on a fundamental level, and that technology is now available in Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation program and other Vedic technologies.

We invite you to read our website.

Sincerely,

Communications Office
