akidron,

this is really one of the best threads on SI, with a lot of factual data. It also provides an unscientific indication of investor sentiments. Based on the posts since yesterday afternoon's press release to present, the longs are really shaken and FUD has set in.

The long time bull of this thread, Brian, posted last night,

"BTW, a block of 5000 shares after-hours is meaningless. Tomorrow the story will unfold. The waiting is the hardest part....."

Why would a long term investor be worried about daily moves, not to mention the totally unreliable after market instinet market? Because the facts are finally replacing wishes. Being so far from Christmas, wishing AMAT will recover soon is going to go unanswered from the North Pole.

Looking forward, it seems like there is no arguement that AMAT will come roaring back one day. I started questioning the magnitude of this recovery and how long will it last in a post last night. There were no response to that post because most are preoccupied with last night's price. Is there a possibility that the semi industry has learned a lesson and will not be going hog wild with expansions for the next cycle. Without the over building, how profitable would these semi eq company be?
