Expansion of Dell Financial Services Joint Venture

TORONTO, Aug. 26 /CNW-PRN/ - Newcourt Credit Group of Toronto, Canada and Dell Computer Corporation
[Nasdaq:DELL - news] of Round Rock, Texas, confirmed today that the two companies are in the process of expanding their
original joint venture to encompass Dell's international operations.

Originally established in April, 1997 to provide Dell Computer Corporation's United States customers with a wide range of
leasing and asset management services, Dell Financial Services L.P. (DFS) was formed as a joint venture between Dell
Computer Corporation and Newcourt Financial, the Newcourt business which serves the commercial finance market.

''DFS has been fully operational in the United States for over a year and during that time it has expanded rapidly to cover all
of Dell's business segments,'' noted Alex Smith, Dell Computer Corporation's Vice President and Treasurer. ''Based on the
success of our joint venture with Newcourt in the United States, the expansion of DFS's mandate to encompass Dell's
operations in Europe, Canada, Asia Pacific and Latin America is underway,'' he added.

''The joint venture has been a tremendous success and we are delighted to confirm the expansion of DFS into international
markets,'' stated David Sharpless, Chairman of Dell Financial Services and Deputy Chairman of Newcourt Credit Group. In
keeping with this expanded mandate, Sharpless announced the appointment of Tom McGreal as Senior Vice President,
International of DFS. ''Tom will have responsibility for directing the DFS team in its rapid expansion throughout Europe. He
will also provide senior strategic advice in connection with the expansion of DFS in Asia/Pacific,'' noted Sharpless.

Sharpless also confirmed that to support the continued expansion of DFS operations in the Americas and to better align DFS
with the structure of Dell Computer Corporation, the mandate of DFS US has been extended to cover Latin America and
Canada.
