To the thread:

There was an interesting panel discussion last night
on C-Span 2 on politics, government and digital
technology. The panel discussed the current status
of government regulations concerning broadband
communications. The panel included VPs from
Bell Atlantic, Cox Communications, AOL, and
representatives of the FCC, 3-Com, and a few
smaller networking and equipment suppliers.

The panel brought out loud and clear the need
to reform the piecemeal regulatory framework of
the FCC, which still looks at local phone companies
and cable companies very differently. The scale of
the investments involved is also gigantic, and
regulatory errors could have a tremendous impact on
the range of services available to consumers in
a few years.

I think that this panel discussion is a must see
for all individuals interested in Last Mile
access. Hopefully, it will be repeated on C-Span
later this week.

Best regards,

Bernard Levy

PS: There was also a panel discussion involving
several members of Congress, which was devoid
of information, as most congressional speeches
usually are. So skip the congresspersons, and
listen to the individuals who know what they are
talking about.

Frank, As I have mentioned B-CDMA before any comments on this new system . From what you have read about IDC doesn't this proposed system fit their IPR ?

Thanks Jim
