No. We do know that Intel has a much larger die size (almost 2x the size of AMD's!), and unless the PII core is completely redesigned (which isn't going to happen) this won't change. DOUBLE? I didn't say the yields were DOUBLE, I said the yields were better. Kevin, you should work on your reading and comprehension before responding.

The K6-2 performs about the same as a Celeron A. The K6-2 will blow it away (with TWICE the on chip L2 cache that the Celeron A

The K6-2 might still be faster than the Celeron, but the gap has definitly been closed with the latest Celeron release. Right? Of course I'm right.

AMD's process (adjusting for core design factors, the thermal advantages of Slot 1, and the fact that Intel can introduce high end chips sooner because it produces more chips) is VERY close to Intel's.

You just conceded that Intel's process is better than AMD's. It looks like you and Yousef are in agreement.

In addition, I have to go and repent because the end is nigh (some homeless person said so).

No. The homeless person was just confused. Go and repent, sell all AMD and buy INTC with the proceeds. You will then be on the road to recovery.

Kevin,

This is probably not correct. K6-2 systems are already benchmarked with large L2 caches. Moving 256K of the L2 onto the CPU die (K6-3)will have minimal (<10%) impact on performance.

There is no reason to expect K6-3 to show the same relative performance gains that the Celeron A demonstrated over it's cacheless predecessor.
