Now, I'm talking about the legislators and not the talking head attack dogs . . .

You are correct, sir. But then it's easy for the master to smile in silence while his dog barks.

Your thoughtful post deserves a more thorough response.

Although there are a few elected Republicans who have been feasting on the red meat of the Monica & Bill Show -- Bob Barr and Charles Canady come to mind, and also on the day of the bombings Sen. Specter and Sen. Coats came out as self-interested partisans -- the truly vicious and creepy blathering has come from their attack dogs.

There, I think of that Susan what's-her-name who sucked everything she could out of Paula Jones and now has some silly "group" she supposedly heads -- membership of one? Another one I really can't stand is Ann Coulter; for me, she is the poster child of all I find repulsive in the spewing heads (they don't really "talk".)

I think the reason I get so worked up about these people is because they never listen. They don't respond to any ideas because they are too busy repeating over and over again their talking points for the day. You always hear them saying the same phrases -- coincidence? no, coordination.

Back to your point, halfscot, it seems that the reasonable Republicans (and there are some, I'm sure) aren't participating in this discussion, whether from cowardice or because they don't think it's that important either. But their silence only makes the howling dogs seem like typical Republicans.
