THE EURO AND THE YEAR 2000
Thursday, 10:45 - 11:30am

Two of the largest business problems in history will take place within a year of
each other. On January 1, 1999 the unified European currency or "Euro" will
commence. On January 1, 2000 the dreaded Year 2000 problem will commence.

The political decision to start the Euro one year prior to the Year 2000 problem
is one of the worst public policy decisions in history. There are not enough
available software resources to handle either of these problems with certainty.
As a result, probably 25% of the world applications with Year 2000 problems
will not be fixed in time.
