<< Well then why is ORCL losing db market share? >>

From CNET:

"In fact, according to analyst firm Dataquest in San Jose, California, sales on the Windows NT platform grew 91 percent in 1997 with Oracle owning 41.5 percent of the market and Microsoft 38.8 percent market share."

who says oracle is losing market share? the 1997 IDC study says Oracle has surpassed Microsoft with db installations on NT - actually gaining percentage points from 95 to 97.

while any survey doesnt tell the complete picture this is far from "oracle losing Market share" - you need to stop talking in sound bites and do some research.

I think a CD containing a QuickTime of Bill's deposition would outsell Windows98. It might even rekindle the Max Headroom fad.

Cheers,
