Dear grampa: As in all areas of life both naturally and spiritually let me give you a version of effectiveness. Success = A lot of results from a small effort. Failure = Little results from a lot of effort. In the spirit realm success can be hindered by. 1. unforgiven sin. 2. active ongoing sin. 3. holding aught against another person. 4. not treating a husband or wife as we are commanded to. 5. fighting our battles in the natural realm instead of the spiritual realm. 6. failure to pray. 7. failure to fast. 8. failure to seek the Lord. 9. judgmental attitude. ( self righteousness, we must always remember that our righteousness comes from Christ and Christ alone.) I might have overlooked a few points but these are enough to keep us busy for a long time, without additions. ( As you added an essential element is praise and worship and thanksgiving) When , we however are clicking on all cylinders and our prayers are being answered effectively it is really a beautiful thing to behold. So much so that OUR relationship becomes the key element rather than the relationship of those we are offering up to God. That is why we must be in the will of God and seek out the will of God, being careful what we ask for, knowing that God will honor our prayers.
