I don't disparage Mr. Cronkite too much.

You'll get no argument from me here, Bob. My point was that I heard the "most trusted man in America" phrase go unchallenged so many times that I thought maybe I was the only person in America who didn't believe everything ol' Walt said, unconditionally. Even back when I was a teenager, his commentaries on 'Nam would infuriate me, and his bias in election / campaign reporting was unbelievable.

I think the only time I really trusted Walt is when the whole world heard the words, "The Eagle has landed." It choked us both up.

The internet is the first widely available means of communication where exchanges of views are really possible. It never really occurred to me that maybe there were a lot of other people who, like me, thought of Cronkite as something less than "most trusted."
