Alan, I get the sense that we will see some real ugliness in Russia. Speculation is that Yeltsin is effectively already out, and Lebed will be brought in under the guise of a coalition government. The place is ripe for such a move, as I am sure many in Russia blame the US and US style capitalism for what has befallen them. In many ways, they aren't that far off the mark. What's unfortunate is that a move toward a strong man in the short term may be necessary in order to bring some immediate stability to a very unstable social situation. The intermediate, long term price to pay for a short term fix will be high indeed. FWIW. Franco
