Can anyone tell me whether that was a 90K buy or sell right before closing today?

George,

Remember the good old days when the thread complained about the short intrest going up 50K? Apparently we jumped 500K this month to 1.4M shares short... Oh well, all the more shares to cover if/when something good happens.

Steve

George,

<<Here is a good overview of channels vs. networks:
ancor.com;

Thank you for the link. I now remember reading this paper a couple years ago. I think this is where I got the impression that channels differed from networks regarding media access:

Devices attached to the switch do not have to contend for the transmission medium as they do in a network. Through its intrinsic flow control and acknowledgment capabilities, Fibre Channel also supports connectionless traffic without suffering the congestion of the shared transmission media used in traditional networks.

A couple of other points:

The range of tasks expected of a channel are much more limited than those expected of a network. While networks operate in an environment of unanticipated connections, channels operate in a very clearly defined domain
snip
Fibre Channel is able to combine some of the attributes of a channel with some of those of a network through a simple technique that sidesteps the issue of widely varying channel and network protocols

I think I remember you speculating that the window for FC switches may be narrow. If a GE switch can provide some of the same benefits as a channel, it seems that disk drive manufacturers may be encourage to provide a GE port instead of or in addition to an FC port.

I think I need to read the NWFusion article.
