The sales people are idiots. Most DOS programs will run just fine in win 98. One caveat may be the pentium II chip itself, but I doubt it. MSFT would not allow INTC to deliver a chip that was not backwards compatible with DOS.

A few DOS programs will not run in the new OS's, but there are several products on the market that will allow you to install multiple OS's on one machine and choose which one to start at boot up time. I have used System Commander and though it was a bit un-intuitive, it worked.

You should be able to go down to a local computer store, load your dos program and see if it runs.

Good luck,
jb

Lynn *OT*,

I agree with Junior Balloon's response. Just like to add that DOS apps run in what is sometimes termed a "DOS-box" under a Windows GUI. Some DOS apps don't like to do this.

Also, some DOS apps won't run in a DOS-box unless it is in "full-screen" mode.

I suggest that you follow Junior Balloon's advice and take your DOS app to a PC store and check it out...

Regards,

H
