Ish,

Zombies might only be the beginning. What happens when they get to be 30 and realize that they never had any fun. Maybe they start to get really pissed off at everybody, etc.

I recall an anecdote about Pablo Casals, the late great Spanish cellist. Late in his life they brought a young Korean prodigy to play before the master. After she did her thing he apparently blew up at the whole crowd, shouting "what are you doing to this child! Send her outside to play!"

I doubt they took his advice.

I still think there's got to be a lawsuit buried there, if even a private school requires you to drug your kid. They probably make you sign a kilometric disclaimer that covers everything up to and including abduction by aliens.

Ish,

Actually, we could be missing a huge opportunity here. Look at what's going on in the Balkans, or the Congo. What if the UN supplied all armies involved with an unlimited supply of Prozac and Viagra. They could buy them, it would have to be cheaper than a peacekeeping force. Once everybody is screwed silly and feeling good about it, you go in and pick up the guns, along with a few selected leaders, and take them someplace far away. If they complain, we tell them it's good enough for our kids, it must be good for them. If we tell them it's a status symbol they'll fight for the privilege of mellowing out.

Think what it would do for pharmaceutical stocks. Alcohol could be involved too. That's the kind of aid that would win hearts and minds...
