IDC should do a study on the quality of the equipment. I think Cisco will be the loser with the AT&T problem and now the router problem. I wonder how Newbridge would place?

Not exactly timely, true, but also somewhat deceiving. How do you define "service providers" and "public data networks?"

When they go on to say, "Ascend clearly has the only true
multiservice switches to supply this market," they lose credibility.

And why release the report now? Perhaps the SBC contract positions NN as the ATM leader?

At any rate, this is standard practice and only means they're feeling a bit insecure. Bullish for NN.

About this IDC report. The fact is, the stock market is a mechanism that attempts to attribute value based on expected future results and not past results. Newbridge was up today while Ascend was down.
