I don't know enough about the respective tools to know whether the suit has merit. Clearly Semitool thinks it does--they're too small to attack a company the size of Novellus for frivolous reasons. There's too much at stake for both companies to allow this to drag on. Uncertainty creates opportunities for competitors, including AMAT. I'd bet on a fairly quick settlement. In past disputes, Novellus has demonstrated a willingness to settle things and get on with business. Katherine
