If what he says is true than you maybe right about a P.O.'s very soon for both VLNC and ULBI, even with both of them making about 1000 batteries per day. It looks like the Taiwan's want to develop some other sources.

Also in the S-3 VLNC says that lithium ion batteries have higher energy densities, which I have read 140whrs/kg vs 120whrs/kg for the vlnc's and ulbi's polymer batteries. Does this take into account the packing factor of cylindrical batteries? If not then the types would be simular.
