I never once used the word "alleged" in my entire post. But with all of BC's shenanigans, his apologists have always reminded people that things are "alleged" until proven, in court or however. But Billy lies in court, while under a solemn oath to tell the truth. And that is part of why it is a felony to commit perjury. A court is a place to get the truth, then make a judgement about who is or is not breaking the laws in question. Unfortunately, BC's policy is simply to always lie - thus making it unusually easy for his supporters to stand by him: "He said he didn't do it - so I have to give him the benefit of the doubt, and you should, too." As long as a liar is not getting caught lying, what can people say? We want to believe that Presidents in particular will tell the truth. They are, after all, leading our country . The reason people are making such a big deal out of the Monica lie is because it wasn't just one little lie: It was fraud and deceit on a truly massive scale, with the full force of the laws of the land (under oath), personal on-air appeal to believe him, plus hundreds of Administration staff carrying out the lie on a regular basis, plus taxpayer money Paid lawyers for this scumbag to carry out this massive fraud. He's gone TOO FAR. He's a sociopath. Re REAL issues like campaign contribution 'scandal' "scandal"? In quotes? You see what we're up against? Those millions of dollars that had to be returned to foreign nationals? *laugh* "that was simply money that was accidently accepted by us, and we sent it back. You gotta believe us. Those are allegations by right-wing extremists. And if Janet Reno investigates, then she's obviously fallen under their influence" Blah blah blah. Gore thought it was a tea party by kindly kindergarten teachers (or whatever, insert lie here). Fine, Gore is innocent (for now). But it says something when an official part of the DNC fundraising apparatus is willfully circumventing Federal campaign contribution laws. It says a lot.
