I know it isn't correct to do current events here, but I'm curious. Have any of the media there noticed that in the past week lower Manhattan has declared virtual war on Hong Kong, Korea, Inc. has quietly folded up its shutters and hung a "closed" sign on the door, and Russia has slipped, like the Titanic, beneath the arctic waters? Not to mention the Japanese slipping one large step closer to inevitable perdition?

Or are they still talking about the blow job?

Steve

PS. Our political culture is corrupt. It rewards and requires corruption. For years we've been trying to fight this by periodically choosing a stellar example and publicly disgracing him. Then we tell ourselves everything is ok. It hasn't worked in the past, won't work now.

Michael, if you actually read my posts rather than thinking you know what I said, you would see that I said that the majority who actually robbed the S&Ls were Republicans. I didn't dispute the fact that the majority that changed the laws were Democrats. They were not the robbers however, they were just duped.

The fact is also that Reagan was the main cheerleader for the easing of the laws that made the robberies possible. It was a shoot-from-the-hip naive idea, just as his forced break-up of the Soviet Union by breaking their economy will prove to be. It's that kind of Rambo mentality that pleases the wrong wingers in the short term, but that will have bad long term consequences for the world.
