FiberNet Telecom Group, Inc. Completes Construction of
Intra-Building Fiber Networks in New York City High-Rise
Office Buildings

August 28, 1998

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Aug. 27

NewsEdge Corporation -- FiberNet Telecom Group, Inc.
(OTC Bulletin board: FTGX) ("FiberNet"), an integrated
provider of fiber optic telecommunications services in
New York City, announced today that its subsidiary,
FiberNet Equal Access, LLC (" Equal Access") has
completed construction of its industry unique
intra-building fiber networks in three Class A New York
City office buildings.

Equal Access has partnered with major building owners
to design, construct and manage state-of-the-art,
high-capacity SONET intra-building fiber optic
transmission networks. This fiber optic distribution
system, placed in Class A, multi-tenant office buildings,
makes Equal Access the country's Premier Building
Transmission Provider. Equal Access provides
broadband capable, high capacity, reliable and
redundant transport communications services. The
building owners receive a technologically advanced
communication system while the building tenants receive
a high-speed, faultless pipeline for voice, video, and data
communications. Santo Petrocelli, Sr., Chairman of the
Board stated, "Today's sophisticated customer is
demanding cutting edge speed, bandwidth and
reliability. Fiber optic cable, with SONET electronics, is
the only solution for meeting these exploding demands,
both now and in the future."

Art Jennerich from Lawrence Ruben Company, a large
New York based real estate company said, "Equal
Access' technology is transforming these buildings into
an advanced communications platform, giving our
tenants the significant advantage they need to be
successful in today's data-oriented and information
intensive business environment."

Equal Access will lease digital bandwidth circuits to
telecommunications carriers, allowing them building
entry, environmentally sound collocation space, and
access to tenants on individual floors. Santo Petrocelli,
Sr. said, "Equal Access' intra-building fiber optic design
and electronics allow Equal Access to provide carrier to
customer connectivity in days, versus weeks or months
from the local phone company."

FiberNet Telecom Group, Inc.'s CLEC subsidiary, Local
Fiber, LLC ("Local Fiber") has begun expansion of its 384
fiber mile network in Manhattan to connect, via a loop
architecture, its Equal Access buildings and its state of
the art switching center at 60 Hudson Street. This will
allow the Company to provide fiber connectivity to its
wholesale and retail customers as a facilities based
carrier.
