SLS Industries Reports Sale of
UNIDIMS to SPI Lighting, Inc. - Wisconsin Fixture
Manufacturer to Use Unique Continuously Dimming
Feature -

HANOVER, MD. Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- SLS Industries, Inc. (OTC Bulletin
Board: SLSI -
news) reports that SPI Lighting, Inc. of Mequon, Wisconsin purchased production-line
units of
SLS's UNIDIM(TM) high-intensity discharge (HID) ballasts.

The sale represents the first commercial purchase and application of UNIDIM ballasts
by a
recognized manufacturer of lighting fixtures. SPI is expected to use a number of power
ranges from
150W and up, and primarily for indirect commercial lighting applications.

Initial units will be used for performance testing, requisite tooling and design. Following
testing and
evaluation of the fixture design criteria, SPI is expected to offer UNIDIM ballasts as an
integral
accessory of SPI lighting fixtures.

''We are excited to have SPI's business and support,'' said Chuck Osher, vice president
marketing
and sales for SLS Industries. ''SPI is recognized worldwide for innovation, quality, and
responsiveness to their customer needs. This sale marks a major milestone of an
intensifying
marketing effort by SLS to gain adoption of our advanced electronic ballasts.''

With UNIDIM ballasts, SPI may offer its customers a number of important and unique
features that
combine energy savings and reduced maintenance costs in a smaller, lighter, cooler,
noise-free
package.

UNIDIM ballasts represent a major breakthrough in lighting technology by addressing
the
industry's long-standing need for a continuously dimmable electronic HID ballast. Unlike
conventional ballasts, UNIDIM ballasts allow continuous dimming of MH lamps from
50%-100%
and HPS lamps from 40%-100% of relative light output.

UNIDIMs are in many other ways superior to the industry standard magnetic core &
coil
technology, which has remained largely unchanged since its introduction in the early
1960's.

As a Green Lights Ally, SLS Industries is committed to developing energy efficient
lighting products
for commercial and industrial use. The company offers the latest technology in dimming
and
non-dimming ballasts for HID lighting. SLS maintains a state-of-the-art R&D facility in
Hanover,
Maryland, in the Baltimore-Washington corridor. SLS is an affiliate of the University of
Maryland's
Technology Advancement Program (TAP). UNIDIM is a trademark of SLS Industries,
Inc.
