Hi Anne: I have another bit on Russia. One day before the devalued there was a conference-call organized by M.Lynch for russian debt traders with the top brass of the russian central bank. The "usual" round of questions went through. The russians stated vehemently they were in control of everything etc etc. At the end of the conference call one of the russians added that he expected that at the next conference call the "quality" of the questions would be higher/better!! You can bet that 30 seconds after the conference call ended, those russian central bankers called their friends, bank owners, traders, and bought all the dollars, DM's they could. They lost their jobs, but I don't think they care very much, while they enjoy the sunset in Marbella, Spain.
