My take on today. I think the chaos in Russia has gotten magnified way out of whack in the US on a very temporary basis because of hedge funds and other institutions who had all sorts of leveraged positions on Russia which now look like they get marked to zero and may cause some US liquidations to get some cash. Add that to the fact that Yeltsen may be leaving and there is talk that many Russian industries may be nationalized which could mean big losses for international partners and you have a double whammy on international markets far beyond any actual world economic effect. So what are the actual market fundamentals at this point. 1)no chance of Fed rate increase and now much greater chance of decrease. 2) continued strong money growth thanks to the Fed. 3)No sign of US recession at this time and 4)valuations are now very compelling based on current lower prices combined with current all time low interest rates. Conclusion: Stay cool and enjoy the ride up when it comes soon.
