Re: My guess is that when the Hang Seng collapses it will be the mother of all collapses

akidron, would you mind giving me a number to quantify your claim "mother of all collapses"? For you reference, Nikkie dropped more than 63.5% in 1990s, DJIA dropped 89% in 1920s and 30s.

aki/all, "U.S. July durable goods orders surge"
Wednesday August 26 6:36 PM EDT
By Glenn Somerville

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - New orders for costly manufactured goods surged unexpectedly in July as brisk demand for new airplanes and electronic products offset declines caused by a lengthy General Motors Corp. (GM - news) strike, the Commerce Department said Wednesday.

Analysts said a 2.4 percent rise in the value of new orders last month to a seasonally adjusted $187.5 billion underlined the resilience of the U.S. economy amid waning overseas markets in Asia.
