Once the CIEN baggage is moved from them, we'll soar.

BS. Nobody soars in this market. If TLAB is going to soar they damn well better get their hands on CIEN technology or LU will eat them for lunch.

I think the drop is due to uncertainty, i.e. how well will TLAB integrate a 7 billion dollar acquisition.

richard.

i think it's important to note that while TLAB could march along quite fine without CIEN, in the long haul (as already noted by more than a handful of posters), if they don't acquire or bring their own optical technology to market, someone else (read: LU) will eat their lunch.

if you can suspend swap ratios and CIEN's bidnez troubles for a moment, this is a beautiful synergistic merger. TLAB gains CIEN's leading DWDM technology and CIEN gets TLAB's marketing, salesforce, and super customer base. for starters, fiber-optic digital cross connects brought more quickly to market.

for now, i'll give TLAB an edge over LU in the digital cross connect world. but TLAB does need DWDM technology soon. i mean, why do you think birck turned to CIEN in the first place? as the expression goes, it's optical, dummy.

without it, we'll be 'soar' awright.

postwords: and lest we forget, LU's moratorium on pooling of interest acquisitions expires sep 30.
