it means the futures are lower than the cash...
and the traditional thinking is that normally the futures lead the cash...

Ike opined one time something to the effect that you could see the market bounce...but dont know how far that negative had to get...and I never could find that post of his referencing it.

also..keep in mind that right now they are in a fast market...so the quotes you see really arent valid...

btw, thank you ron Insana for reminding us that another trading halt would come if S&P goes down 55....let's just scare some people...

when did that prem go negative and did you notice how negative it went?
it wasnt too far after this post of yours that we started the bounce

(edit..looked at the prem on quote.com..didnt know I could do that...it went to a little below - 2 twice and then the market bounced hard)

Dang...Nemer should have traded that sucker when he got the call from his box
