rrman,
I have a lot of relatives who were among those that fought hard for Hitler, much to their later sorrow and regret. My father for instance was drafted as a 14 year old and sent to the Russian front in late '44. I study military history and will agree that the German soldiers did indeed fight brilliantly and with tremendous ardour. They were not homicidal maniacs. They were motivated by patriotism and love of country just as American and Russian soldiers. But the undeniable truth is that this patriotism led them to the horrible crime of having aided and abetted the murder of innocents. Millions of people died in concentration camps; Jews, Gypsies, political prisoners, homosexuals and more. I also had relatives who died in the camps.
Believe me, I am a pacifist by nature. Given that Hitler deceived his countrymen and got himself and his gang of thugs in position to murder millions, what does the world do? Should we sit idly by and watch him murder millions? He certainly would have killed 10s of millions more if left unchecked. This is an honest and non-confrontational question, how do we respond to such a situation?
Henry

rrman. They were'nt all homicidal maniacs or idiots.

They were dupes, suckers, moronic zealots and fanatics.

Which one are you?

You write like you're all of the above.
