Hey Cav,
Had an interesting trip ... isn't it amazing that so many of the posts over here are so very similar to those we watched on cygs for the past few weeks ... anyway, I do believe there are several other companies that can both export and import various products from the Amazon Rain Forrest. I have bought several seedlings (and seeds) from plants which are found there. With the exception of very large plants, most plants from the Amazon can be grown here in the US under controlled conditions. (Some can't.) Check my previous post and let me know if you agree.

Here's two I found so far selling Amazonia herbs on the net;

1. Amazonas Natural Product Trading GmbH
amazonas-products.de

2. Amazon Discovery Mfg.
amazondiscovery.com

It's really a stretch to think that this reputed monopoly of aznt is extended to all 'fruits and vegetables from amazon rain forest'. I thought you were just talking about stevia, and I find that hard enough to believe.

Now what I find credible is this - That the good Doctor feels, rightly or wrongly, that he has developed a cultivar of stevia that varies sufficiently from the known varieties to be considered distinct, that he feels this cultivar may have commercial application, and that he may have applied for or even received a patent in Brasil for that specific cultivar.

But a monopoly on exportation of plant matter from Amazonia - No way, Jos‚.
