Ted,

I'm not much of a Clinton fan myself but personally I don't give a rat's ass whether these near eastern or asian countries "respect" us. As far as I can tell they all come calling on us when it suits their self-interests: kuwait and saudi arabia when they face imminent threat of their monarchies and oil fields being taken over by that camel jockey sad-ass hussein; egypt will keep peace as long as we continue sending them their yearly "foreign aid" check; japan and south korea will put up with us as long as we keep paying for and protecting their national security and as long as they are allowed to export all they want to our country. It is a sad ass commentary when we put our sons and daughters in harms' way on the front line to save the kuwaitis and saudis while their "military" troops shit bricks in fear on the sidelines. It is likewise a sad ass commentary when we subsidize japan's and south korea's national defense with u.s. tax dollars when japan is the world's largest creditor nation and both countries have enjoyed massive trade surpluses. Not to speak of the fact that Japan have not shown enough decency or integrity to at least apologize for their conduct in world war 2.
We need another Truman in the white house. he would put a stop to this nonsense and get japan to pay war reparations (with interest) to boot.
