Bombardier Cl B SV BBD.B
Shares issued 249,599,240 Aug 27 close $16.80
Fri 28 Aug 98 In the News
The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday edition that analysts expect
transportation giant Bombardier's shares to climb as profits keep pouring
in. Stock In The News columnist Andrew Bell notes that just more than a
year ago, shares of Bombardier went off the rails, but this summer, the
transportation giant's stock has been chugging nicely along. Relatively
speaking, of course, the Toronto Stock Exchange has slumped 13.4 per-cent
in 1998 as the Canadian dollar slides and commodities crumble, but shares
of the Montreal-based company have climbed 16 per-cent to $16.95 this year.
For one thing, the stock has been helped by loud and clear earnings growth.
Goldman Sachs analyst Amir Karim said in a report last month that
Bombardier's diverse product mix should allow it to grow in spite of the
slowdown in the snowmobile and personal watercraft markets. Value Line
analyst Milton Schlein predicts good profit gains this year and next.
