Deflating prices won't last forever
'People have to eat,' commodity trader reasons

Hey this guy stole my line! Message 5607583

WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- Many investors are just beginning to
take deflation seriously. Sinking commodity prices -- now at a 21-year
low by one measure -- have helped keep a lid on U.S. inflation, but they
are also beginning to hurt the profits of producers of natural resources.

CBS.MarketWatch.com talked with George Kleinman, president of
Commodity Resources Corp., to get a trader's view on the future of falling
prices.

Is deflation a danger?

Kleinman: Deflation is old news. People are just
talking about it now but commodity prices as
measured by the Bridge/Commodities Research
Bureau Index (CR=A0) are at 21-year lows
today. We're in a deflationary situation. So I don't
think it's something that's on the horizon, something that's new. It's what
we're seeing in commodities. See current futures contract prices.
