Steve,
The DOW is 13% off its high. The NASDAQ is nearly 20% off it's high.
Some growth mutual funds are 25% off their highs this year. I don't even want to figure out how far off the TSEI is much less the Russian market (Peaked over 500, closed today at 65). Hong Kong is 53% off it's high last year. The Nikkei peaked at near 40,000 in 1989, it just broke under 14,000 tonight.
Intel has done nothing for 1.5 years and is 22% off it's all time high. AMD peaked at over 40; tonight it's at 15.
If anything, this has been one nasty little stealth correction, stealth in that the DOW and some nifty fifty stocks have masked the real carnage.
