I don't recall seeing this article posted on this thread that appeared in the Vancouver Sun last friday. While it may not be viewed as earth shattering, things are moving in the right direction. If we can ever get over this "economic flu", I expect that BLD will turn around fairly quickly.

The Vancouver Sun reports in a Canadian Press dispatch in its Friday
edition that a Ballard hydrogen fuel-cell engine slated for Ford's version
of the U.S. P2000 lightweight passenger car has passed crucial tests,
clearing the way for a prototype within a year, according to the two
companies. The zero emisssion engine was run successfully through several
drive cycles at Ballard Power Systems' research headquarters in Burnaby,
according to Brad Bates, Ford Motor manager for alternative power source
technology. Ballard will deliver the engine to Ford's Dearborn, Michigan,
research facilities within a couple of weeks and a running prototype should
be ready for testing within a year, according to Mr Bates. He says this is
the first actual delivery of a fuel cell system from Ballard to Ford, which
is quite a milestone. Ford, along with Germany's Daimler-Benz, have owned
stakes in the Vancouver-based fuel cell developer since last year.
