..as you know Sun doesnt charge a penny as you imply for compliance testing for 100% pure Java - Key Labs does the tests. As far as the value of compliance testing i guess it becomes a problem when you knowingly try to break java's cross platform capability and undermine the value of the platform...but thats par for the course as everyone knows for Microsoft.
