I agree with you

And I'm a MSFT shareholder via options too. Intel not only had OS/2 but also Netware 4.11 which only involved acquiring a small Utah based company. They could have acquired Novell, (which is about to release a native IP version of its network operating system with strong JAVA support) and built a JAVA MPU, and they would have achieved their objective of moving into the middle level server UNix niche that they have been trying to get their Merced systems into and having the next generation of applications servers to boot. But being hardware engineers they relied upon Gates NT promises. He bluffed them out of their underwear. Its pathetic to see that Gates made such fools out of them. And they probably still haven't figured it out.

Dale,
Re -- But instead they caved in. Why, because Bill Gates was livid. What a joke.

I think the full extent of the decision was not realized by the idiot who wrote that fortune article.

If Intel and Microsoft were to engage in a "fight" there would be NO WINNERS, and could be a DISASTER for Intel's vision of a BILLION CONNECTED COMPUTERS. Instead Intel, IMO CHOSE to back off and focus on other growth areas.
